We have seen glimpses and teasers, and we’ve heard snippets from our favourite songs. Now Disney has released the final Beauty and the Beast trailer, giving us a proper taster of what we can expect come March. You can also listen to John Legend and Ariana Grande take on the classic, Tale as old as Time.
It seems that the live-action re-telling of this classic fairy tale will closely resemble the animation that captured our hearts 16 years ago. The story follows Belle (Emma Watson), a strong-willed, independent and beautiful woman from a small town who rescues her father from a horrible beast by taking his place as captive. However, the longer she stays in the castle the more she learns about its enchanted history and the terrible curse that condemns all within, including her captor.
This was by far my favourite Disney movie growing up, filled with danger, intrigue, romance and the most incredible music. And let’s not forget that library, which made many of us fall in love with books in the first place. Personally I am excited to see how Disney brings the story to life.
Watson is joined by Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
The final trailer is all goosebumps and magic. Take a look:
