Beyoncé has dropped two new music videos, for “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles” off her 2016 Lemonade album. This follows a live performance of the songs at the Grammy Awards, where she dedicated the song to motherhood, showing off her pregnant belly to the audience.
Both songs continue to explore themes of rebirth and healing. I was particularly moved by the second release, “Sandcastles”, which is an intimate portrait of Beyonce and Jay-Z. The ballad speaks about reconciliation and forgiveness, with raw lyrics and tender, emotional vocals that are supported by powerful visuals of the singer and her husband – a rare occasion for this private couple.
The music videos follow an interesting turn of events at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, where Beyoncé was leading with nine nominations for her album, “Lemonade.” Instead Adele snatched up the top awards, including album, record and song of the year. The British singer was equally surprised, telling reporters that she “felt like it was [Beyoncé’s] time to win.”
Personally I agree with Adele.
