Espadril is bringing the heat with their new spring/summer collection

If you’re not yet familiar with local brand Espadril, then allow yourself to be schooled. These girls have taken the Cape Town scene by storm, becoming a must-have accessory under the local fashion crowd. And it’s not hard to see why. The styles are simplistic but also undeniably cool, and the fit is comfortable, making them ideal for the spring and summer months.

They have just launched visuals of their spring/summer collection that’s dropping in November and I am already planning my outfits in my head. According to Patricia Terre from Espadril, the new collection has a completely fresh flavour. “We found inspiration from the animals in the Tropics for our embroidery and crystal motifs so you will see tigers, a colourful toucan and a fish print.”

Terre and her partner Rizqah Isaacs have named the collection ‘Heat’, paying homage to summer around the world. “The words that spring to mind are ‘sexy’, ‘animalistic’ and ‘hot’, and the woman we had in mind while designing the shoes is confident, wild and care-free.”

The fabrics and colours speak to the season, with vintage denim, orange suede, calfskin, raw silk and their signature Spanish cotton all making an appearance. For the denim shoes they have sourced vintage acid-washed jeans and cut these up to create the shoes, which means each pair is one-of-a-kind.

“We used many new elements for the first time and really came out of our comfort zone with this collection. It has been an exciting journey – we hope people can feel the love we have put into it,” says Isaacs.

The Heat shoes are priced between R800 and R950 for embroidered styles and R1500 for the Swarovski crystal-embroidered pair. Each pair will be packaged for you in a new pink Espadril bag, and the Heat collection is packed into a linen shoe bag.
