I always see beauty gurus and makeup influencers effortlessly rounding off their makeup looks with false lashes, and think, “wow, that really takes the look from a 7 to a 10.” I love makeup, and playing around and experimenting with it, but I have always thought false lashes were just not for me. I remember attempting them one time in high school and it’s a memory I’d rather choose to forget.

When I received a package from Pinky Goat Lashes, I was excited to try and level up my makeup game, but apprehensive at the same time, given my past experience.

So, I sat down, did my makeup as usual, and then it was time to bring out the big guns. The packaging was beautiful, containing three sets of eyelashes – Noura, Reem and Ghady, as well as eyelash glue. The Ghady set is full volume, whereas the Reem set is more natural looking. I naturally went for the Noura which was a sort of a middle ground.

Now, the only thing I really knew about false eyelashes is what I learned from YouTube. I quickly tried to find a tutorial on how to navigate this situation, trying to prevent myself from ruining the beautiful lashes and my eyesight for that matter, but it wasn’t much help.

I do, however, remember having to cut the lashes to fit your eyes, so that is what I did first. “How bad can this really be?” I then thought to myself. I applied some glue, waited for it to dry for about twenty seconds before attempting to apply it. Boy, was I out of my depth.

Without the proper eyelash tweezers I really struggled. I applied the false eyelashes to my left eye about six or seven times, each time discovering a new way this could go wrong. First too little glue, then too much, glue in my eye, applying them skew, the list was endless. When I finally got them right, I was overjoyed and effortlessly applied the lashes to my right eye!

I’m not exaggerating  when I tell you that I could not stop looking at myself in the mirror! They looked incredible! I knew false eyelashes had superpowers, but had no idea what I was in for. The confidence I felt when wearing these eyelashes was something I didn’t expect, but it was very welcomed.

At first it felt strange having extra weight on my eyelids, but I soon became used to it, barely noticing them at all. They are so easy to wear! The eyelashes stayed on all day and I had no issues with lifting. As sad as it was to remove them at the end of the day, they came off effortlessly and I experienced no irritation at all. One of the best parts about this product is that the eyelashes are reusable, so you can recreate this fabulosity on multiple occasions.

I think it’s safe to say that I have been converted. False eyelashes add so much depth to a makeup look and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try them out. Though my application game needs a bit of improvement, I cannot wait to go out again and pretend that everyone is admiring me.

P.S. These Pinky Goat Lashes are just what you need when trying to flirt while wearing a mask. Do with that information what you will.

I like pretty things and spend way too much time on the internet. Vintage vines and memes are my love language, but feel free to send me a Woolies voucher instead. I still want to be a Constantia mom when I grow up.
