December is here, which means we’ll soon be hitting the road (or the runway) in an attempt to escape our everyday lives. We’ll be screaming “hello, summer holidays” in no time, but unfortunately with summer comes a number of problems like dry skin, breakouts and travel stress.
To help manage your travel anxiety, we’ve rounded up a list of essential beauty products that you shouldn’t be traveling without.
Shampoo and Conditioner:

If there is one thing I really don’t like about traveling, it’s the fact that my hair seems to stay clean for a much shorter time, and as much as I hate it, I know I’m not alone. Being on the move means you have to fuss around with massive bottles of dry shampoo – which I recently learned, I’m not a massive fan of.
Luckily, I have found a set that I do like. Oneka’s hair range contains no synthetic fragrances, is made with natural plant extracts and is completely vegan and animal-friendly. They also come in perfectly neat travel bottles which makes it super easy to carry around for those emergency moments.
Skincare travel kit:

TheraVine, a proudly South African beauty brand, has a great range of travel minis that are ideal for popping into your handbag or carry-on, no matter the travel situation. I absolutely love that these products are made from natural ingredients extracted from grape cultivars and that they have a cruelty-free promise, which you can check out here.
The Introduction Skin Care Selection has a Cream Cleanser, Balancing Toner, Pinotage Exfoliating Enzyme and Super Hydrating Day Cream, perfect for taking on that flight.
The one thing I’m prone to leaving behind on a trip is sunscreen, which, as a redhead, is a definite no-no. Always be sure to pack something with a sun protection factor. If you’re unsure what to look for, check out our recent article on our favourite sunscreen products.
Body travel kit:

If you’re looking for body lotions and shower gels, but don’t necessarily want to cart your whole bathroom with you, look no further than Cowshed. Their products, made in England and available in South Africa, are made with organic plant extracts and essential oils. They also feature different product lines with amusing names like Gorgeous Cow, Grumpy Cow and Knackered Cow.
I like this range for pretty simple reasons; they smell great, they’re made with natural ingredients, they’re light on the skin and I find the names highly entertaining.
Their Pocket Cow and Fab Four Bath & Body Sets are the perfect travel companions as they are easy to fit into any carry-on.

Elizabeth Arden’s award winning Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant has the ability to cater to a range of needs, and can easily fit into one’s pocket. The consistency is less like that of a lotion and more like a gel, and may take some getting used to. It works like a charm, though, and can be useful for taming your brows, keeping your lips glossed, treating chapped skin and soothing skin irritation. Since it completely alleviates the necessity of packing a range of products, count me as a fan!
