Where you should be shopping on Black Friday

This year has been tough on our pockets. Prices have gone sky high for everything from a loaf of bread to that tempting pair of boots. I’ve been spending a lot more selectively this year, looking for investment buys and shopping the sales for those fun trend pieces.

This Friday we are going to see the mother of all sales as Black Friday hits once more, and I’m pretty excited. This annual sale that we’ve adopted from America sees online and brick-and-mortar stores slashing down prices as we kick off the Christmas season. I’m certainly keeping an eye on those bargain buys.

Here are a few spots to keep an eye on.

The TFG eMall is putting a twist on Black Friday with a fun face recognition game. The mobi and web-app game can be played at www.tfgampedup.co.za. Upload a selfie of your most Amped Up face to the mobi-site and your expression will be scored. Rate higher than 60% and cash in on vouchers to get from R50 to R300 off any full priced items on Black Friday! The more excited your facial expression, the bigger the reward. Black Friday deals can be shopped at TFG brick and mortar stores, as well across 11 stores in the TFG eMall – @home, Anatomy, Duesouth, Duesouth Escapes, Fabiani, Foschini for Beauty, hi, Markham, Relay Jeans, Sportscene, and Totalsports.

Zando.co.za is offering up to 80% off on hundreds of fashion brands, with new deals launched every hour. It’s going to be crazy! Zando stocks a wide range of fashion brands including men and women’s wear, shoes, handbags and jewellery. They also have a section with accessories for your home.

Dunkin Donuts is supporting your mad shopping endeavours with a free coffee, and a Zando discount voucher. Guests taking part in the Black Friday coffee giveaway could also stand the chance to win a Dunkin’ Donuts hamper and R 2000Zando.co.za voucher by sharing a photo of the redeemed coffee on the brand’s social media platforms.  The winner of the hamper will be announced on Monday 28 November 2016. The Black Friday coffee giveaway will take place at the N1 City, Canal Walk and Tygervalley restaurant during normal opening hours on Friday, 25 November 2016.

Urban Decay is launching inside Foschini Eastgate this Friday, 25 November, and there will be amazing opening specials and gifts on both Friday and Saturday. Technically it’s not Black Friday deals, but you can still score some goodies! Urban Decay is one of my personal favourite makeup brands. You can check out my reviews of their Naked and Naked Ultimate Basics palettes.

Stylebar salons are offering 40% on salon brands like Kerastase, Schwarzkopf professional, NAK, Wella, Nioxin and Tangle Angel, and R500 off on styling tools from ghd, Cloud Nine, Veaudry and Glam Palm. Hair care, sorted.

Retailbox.co.za is offering equally awesome deals on salon haircare and styling products. They are offering discounts between 10% and 50% on top quality brands including Cloud Nine, Goldwell, Invisibobble, Joico and more.

Forever New is offering 30% off in their stores and on their website, with an additional 30% off on current sale items. So you know the upcoming wedding season? Now is the time to shop that outfit.

Takealot.com will launch their annual Black Friday sale at midnight on Thursday 24 November. Also known as the Blue Dot Sale, it is Takealot’s biggest sale of the year, with over 10,000 products on offer, including hundreds of make-up and beauty products discounted by up to 60%. The sale will take place over four days from 25 to 28 November.

Cybercellar.com has been running deals since Monday 21 November, with once-off, day-only deals. Get savings on stunning top wines, spirits, beers and bar accessories. This is a great excuse to stock your liquor cabinet.

Rubi by Cotton On will be offering sandals, flipflops and accessories at bargain prices from 25 to 27 November. Grab a selection of sandals for R150, two pairs of flip flops for R100 and get half-price on selected accessories.

Hunter Boots have become somewhat iconic during the rainy seasons but the boots are definitely an more of an investment buy. If you’ve always coveted a pair, they are currently going at serious discounts over on hunterboots.co.za, with some styles going at nearly 50% discount. They’re still pricey but definitely a little easier on the pocket.

Clicks is counting down to Black Friday from 21 to 24 November, with even bigger discounts set to hit on the weekend. So if you are looking for all those home essentials like kettles and blenders, and beauty buys like straighteners, hairdryers and hot rollers. Go shop online at clicks.co.za

Checkers is getting in on the action with up to 50% off on select stock, so it might be a good idea to stock up the pantry this Friday. You can take a look at the specials on their website.
