More and more, I am coming across people who are choosing to be conscious, ethical consumers. How is your food grown? Who makes your clothes? How do your actions impact the environment.
So I was incredibly excited when I was introduced to Bloom & Bale, a new local company that produces 100% organic cotton bedding that has also been created in an ethical way.
Bloom & Bale founder, Mare-Alet Nel went through a lot of effort to ensure that the farms where the cotton is grown and the factories where the bedding is made all treat their workers fairly, so that you can enjoy your luxury with an easy mind. You can read more on their philosophy HERE.
I also love the aesthetic of the brand. I was so impressed with the presentation of the packages when they arrived with the courier, each element individually packed in a cotton draw string bag, and everything wrapped up with ribbons and tissue paper. It makes the whole experience so special.
So naturally you asking what this costs? I think the linen is actually really reasonably priced. You’re getting 300 thread count cotton, which means the material is stronger and in my experience softer against your skin. I ordered an Organic Super King Bedding Set, which includes a duvet cover, flat sheet, fitted sheet and 4 pillow cases for R3 599. If you’ve shopped around for bedding lately you’ll know this is a really good deal. You can also buy the item separately however, with pillow cases starting at just R260 for 2.
I really love what these guys are doing and I’m definitely going to stick to them in future. Everything from the presentation to the final product and the philosophy behind it all is absolutely brilliant.
