Gabriëlskloof wine estate just outside Bot River is once again gearing up to bring you an array of finely curated goods. Shop handmade, homemade, delicious, fresh and beautiful treats during this three-day festival, while enjoying local foods and great wines.

Entrance to the event is free of charge. The opening night on Friday has become so popular, however, that they have allocated pre-booked seating at the long-table lining the mirror ponds at the centre of the courtyard so if you want to secure a seat you can pay a little extra. Alternatively the estate has plenty of space if you don’t mind settling on the grass.

Gabriëlskloof is one of my favourite wine farms in this valley and the market is a lovely way to get out of the city. It’s also a much nicer way to shop for Christmas gifts than navigating the festive season rush in a crowded mall. “Our market is a colourful celebration of all our favourite things,” says Nicolene Finlayson from Gabriëlskloof. “It’s for young and old to feast on the best the Overberg and surround can offer in terms of design and food and to simply have a lekker kuier on the koppie.

You can look forward to alpaca wool items, designer jewellery, local and important clothing, ceramics, quilts, knits, and handmade toys. You can also snack on oysters and bubbly, wine and cheese, fresh bakes, burgers and artisan chocolate.

The Gypsy Jazz Trio will also be providing entertainment on the Friday night, with a French accordion taking over on Saturday and Sunday.
