This year’s Shiraz & Charcuterie at Anthonij Rupert will take place on Saturday 27 May from 12:oo – 17:00. The annual event brings together some of South Africa’s finest Shiraz wines accompanied by delicious charcuterie (cured meats) and other culinary treats.

Anthonij Rupert will of course be showing off their own beautiful selection and you’ll have the opportunity to taste the Anthonij Rupert Syrah, the Cape of Good Hope Riebeeksrivier Shiraz (I’m looking forward to this one) and the more easy drinking Protea Shiraz, which you could buy just for the bottle.

Other participating wineries include Rust en Vrede, Waterford, Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines, Hartenberg Wine Estate, Simonsig and Thelema – all known for producing top notch wines.

The food will take it’s cue from the colder months, drawing inspiration from the Rhone Valley cuisine. You can expect dishes like traditional French Onion Soup, and homemade Saucisson served with braised Cannellini Beans. They will also have the popular Olive Bar with a selection of the finest artisanal olives to choose from.

In past years this boutique wine festival has been one of my favourites and I am looking forward to seeing what they get up to this year. Put on your coat and boots, and head out to the Franschhoek valley for a day of beautiful red wine.

Pre-booking is essential as tickets are limited. Your tickets, which cost R220 per person, includes entry as well as tastings of the wines on show. Book directly via
