I love Christmas. I love cheesy carols and tinsel, sparkly lights and shimmering decorations. But the thing I love most about this season is buying gifts for the people I love. I find incredible pleasure in taking time to consider each person, what they would enjoy, what would make their face light up when they tear off the paper (and I normally insist that they open their gift in front of me so that I can experience that moment).

It can be tricky finding the perfect present. When in doubt I find that a delicious pampering product is nearly always a safe bet. Let’s face it, what girl doesn’t like indulging in a little me-time now and then? So I’ve put together a selection of my favourites which are both beautiful and a total treat to use. Take a look.

Skin Creamery Everyday Cream

R285 for 200ml, skincreamery.co.za

I loved every minute of using this cream. It is a blend of nourishing, natural ingredients including baobab, coconut and jojoba oils, but it still has a lightweight feel and absorbs easily into your skin. It also has this delicious, mild scent that reminds me of a vanilla milkshake. Yum! This is a brilliant buy for anyone who loves natural skincare, since the product is made using only sustainable, natural ingredients, the majority being organic.

The Body Shop Christmas Editions (Limited Edition)

Frosted Berries Body Scrub (R190 for 250ml), Frosted Berries Body Mist (R200 for 100ml) and Spiced Apple Body Butter (R170 for 200ml), thebodyshop.co.za

I know it’s Christmas when The Body Shop releases their annual festive season editions. These are always such a treat and this year is no different. My favourite range this year is the spiced apple, which smells a bit like chai latte meets apple crumble. The frosted berries is equally delicious though, particularly the Frosted Berries Scrub, which feels like you’re rubbing a berry sorbet over your body. And I love the Frosted Berries Body Mist, which turns into a shimmering swirl when you shake it.

Healing Earth Pinotage Body Polish

R327, faithful-to-nature.co.za

This gentle exfoliator will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, and it has a gorgeous, fresh, botanical scent. Healing Earth is a premium African spa brand with products made from natural and organic ingredients that are sustainably sourced and cruelty-free. It’s always nice to know that you’re pampering yourself with products that are kind to the earth.

Kiehl’s x Jeremyville Holiday Collection (Limited Edition)

Creme de Corp (R695 for 500ml) and Ultra Facial Cream (R395 for 50ml), healingearth.co.za

This season, skincare brand Kiehl’s has collaborated with Brooklyn-based artist Jeremyville to created limited edition packaging for a few iconic products, including the Creme de Corps, Ultra Facial Cream and Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner. The collection has been inspired by Central Park in New York, re-imagined as a world of happy snowmen, skaters, and shining stars. The Creme de Corps is one of my ultimate pamper products, with a silky skin feel and delicious, creamy scent. It also contains a blend of nurturing ingredients including Beta-Carotene, Squaline and skin loving oils for ultimate care. The Ultra Facial Cream is equally lovely and one of my go-to basic moisturisers. It has a light-weight, comfortable texture and effectively hydrates all day long.

Lush Christmas Collection: Garden Party Gift Set

R349 including Rose Jam shower gel (100g), Ro’s Argan body conditioner (45g), Respect Your Elders soap (120g) and Sleepy body lotion (50g), lush.co.za

If you’ve ever walked past a Lush store you’ll know that it is impossible not to pause and enjoy the seductive scents wafting from the colourful displays. Their products always make for a special gift. You can build up your own pamper package, or choose one of the pre-packed boxes, already (conveniently) wrapped. My favourite gift set is Garden Party, which contains the ever popular and oh-so-delectable Rose Jam shower gel. They’ve also thrown in a bar of Respect Your Elders soap, with a deep berry scent, and two lovely body lotions. Personally I can’t get enough of the Ro’s Argan body conditioner. Lush products are cruelty free and handmade using a blend of natural ingredients and safe synthetics that are vegetarian and often vegan-friendly. Love.

Lulu & Marula Calming Bath Oil and Energising Body Balm

Bath Oil (R270 for 100ml) and Body Balm (R270), luluandmarula.com

I adore this local, 100% natural beauty brand. Firstly I find their packaging ridiculously pretty, with fun botanical designs that make me think of a villa in Mexico. Secondly, their formulations are lovely! The Calming Bath Oil is a treat if you need to unwind, with a blend of neroli, geranium and ylang ylang. The Body Balm is a stunning moisturiser for those stubborn areas like elbows, heels, knees and cuticles, with a blend of lemongrass, naartjie and vetiver that give it a fresh, zesty scent. It also contains marula, baobab and shea butter to soften and nourish your skin. I think it is divine. You can buy the products individually or as sets containing either the Energising or Calming body ranges, which I think would make beautiful gifts.

These are just a few of my favourites. I hope you find something special to pop under the tree! Merry merry!
