As we move into the cooler seasons I find myself eager, almost anxious, to catch the last rays of the summer sun. It’s that time of the year where I’m grabbing each opportunity to spend a warm weekend at the beach, to sip a cup of coffee in the garden before work, or savour a glass of wine at the end of the day, simply absorbing the heat on my skin.

Recently I’ve been introduced to three new scents that capture the beauty of this season through their soft, elegant bouquets. In their own unique way each brings a sense of warmth that is still light and bright. So if you’re looking for a new fragrance that can carry you through to winter, go try them out.

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense

From R1745, select department stores

I am completely obsessed with this new fragrance from Chanel. It instantly takes me back to a bottle of Chanel Chance Eau de Parfum that my now-husband bought me on our 6-month anniversary (10 years ago!), with all the happiness that the memory brings.

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense combines those classic oriental elements, lifted by bright citrus notes. You’ll instantly catch orange, bergamot and lemon, carrying you into a fruity floral heart with rose, and jasmine, all supported by sweet, woody notes of vanilla, tonka bean, patchouli and musk at the base.

You really can’t go wrong with a Chanel fragrance, and I highly recommend this one. It is definitely going to the front of my collection.

Giorgio Armani Sun Di Gioia Eau de Parfum

From R790, select department stores

I was thrilled when I was introduced to Sun di Gioia, the latest variant in this Giorgio Armani fragrance line. Acqua di Gioia, the first in the line, is still one of my all-time favourite fragrances, with it’s unique salty-ocean character that captures a day on the Mediterranean.

Like the name suggests, this perfume was inspired by the radiance, happiness and energy of the sun. It opens with bright top notes of bergamot, freesia and that unique marine accord. At the heart, you have a blend of soft florals including sambac jasmine, ylang-ylang and frangipani. And at the base it has sweet coconut milk, Ambrox and iris.

For me it instantly captures that smell of a warm day on the beach, the scents of suntan lotion mingling with hot sand and the cool ocean breeze. And if that smell doesn’t make you intensely happy, nothing will.

DKNY Nectar Love Eau de Parfum

From R780, select department stores

If you love fruity fragrances then you should definitely try the latest release from DKNY. Nectar Love is a really fun, young scent with a combination of fruity, citrus and floral accords. Something about it reminds me of the body spray I wore as a teenager, and I’m instantly taken back to warm days after school, lazing away next to the pool.

As the name suggests, this has been inspired by the honey-bee and the nectar it lives on. Those are also the two dominant notes, with hints of honey comb, peaches, orange and freesia. You’ll also catch a soft floral heart with jasmine and lily, and a blend of sweet base notes including sweet wood, musk, jasmine and neroli.

Which of these would you most like to try? Pop your thoughts in the comments below, I would love to hear from you.

I am a lifestyle blogger from Cape Town trying to find the best ways to spend my time, take care of my body and express myself. I am slightly obsessed with fragrances, sneakers, Jamie Oliver and Masterchef Australia. Oh, and I probably drink way too much wine.

I would love to try the last two but mostly the DKNY as I love musk in my perfumes. The Georgio Armani with its Bergamot would be another favourite lol, I have tested the Coco but its not my scent as I find it a bit too much citrus for me.
