Think beautiful American billionaires living it up in luxury, out to protect their secrets and rise to the top, no matter what. Yup, Dynasty is here to fill that giant Gossip Girl gap in your life, with a whole new level of tantalising intrigue.
This new Netflix original series is a remake of the 1980s classic, following the Carrington family and all their glorious dramas. The first episode kicks off with Fallon Carrington announcing that she is about to become COO of her father’s global energy empire, but of course that wouldn’t make for good television. Instead she returns home to find a different kind of surprise, and she’s not pleased. Cue cat fights, family feuds and a British butler who knows too many secrets.
Netflix dropped this series at just the right time. With Trump in the US presidential seat and the looming crisis of global warming hanging over our heads, the series hits on all the hot topics. If you spot a Gossip Girl feel to the show, that’s probably because it was co-written by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who both developed the Gossip Girl series (and The O.C. for those who still remember the days of Ryan and Marissa). Dynasty stars Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Nathalie Kelley as Cristal Flores, James Mackay as Steven Carrington and Grant Show as Blake Carrington. It was co-written by
The series launched globally in October and will air on a weekly basis. If you’re looking for a guilty pleasure, try it out. I am hooked.
