Easter weekend is a time for family, fun and most importantly, Easter lunch! We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite Easter weekend lunches and activities below — so don’t miss out and book your seat now!

Spend Family Day at Middelvlei, Stellenbosch

Save the date for this year’s Middelvlei Family Day, Monday, 22 April, which promises to be a fun day out for the whole family. The Easter Bunny will be popping in on the day to the farm making the Middelvlei Easter Egg Hunt extra fun. Look out for the special clues hidden to uncover an abundance of sweet treats!

Adding to the day’s fun and festivities are the line-up of Boeresport games, guaranteed to be one of the day’s highlights. These include old favourites such as the Egg and Spoon race, Three Legged race, Wheelbarrow Walk and not forgetting Bokdrol Spitting. While the kids are kept entertained, parents can sit back and relax while sipping on a glass of Middelvlei wine and taking in the sights and sounds of the views and enjoying the live entertainment on offer. An Easter inspired spitbraai lunch completes the perfect family outing to the Winelands. The cost of the lunch is R 280 per adult and R130 per child (12 years and younger), which includes the Easter egg hunt.

Easter Sunday and Family Day Le Pommier, Stellenbosch

Le Pommier will be serving breakfast and lunch on both Easter Sunday and Family Day, with an exciting Easter egg hunt for the kiddies! Their delicious à la carte menu will be on offer, so look forward to mussels, camembert and cherry tomatoes, blue cheese snails and more for starters, or enjoy a fresh seasonal prawn, mango and avo salad. If you’re looking for a fun-filled weekend for the whole family, look no further than Spier Wine Estate! Food-wise, options range from a Good Friday Seafood Buffet (R380 pp or R150 for kiddies under 12) at the Spier Hotel Restaurant, a Saturday Spit Braai Buffet (R380 pp or R150 for kiddies under 12), to an Easter Sunday harvest platter lunch at Eight Restaurant (R450pp or R200 for kiddies under 12). For a more relaxed Easter, enjoy an Easter Sunday lunch picnic basket (R600 per basket or R180 per kiddies basket) under the shady trees, or head over to the courtyard for a traditional braaied lunch (R410 pp or R200 per child under 12).

From Good Friday to Family Day, Backsberg has your back! They’re offering Easter-themed picnics throughout the weekend between 12h00 and 16h00 (R400 for a basket for two or R185 for a kiddies basket for two), featuring treats such as hot cross buns, pickled fish and chocolate truffles, and you can add a wine pairing for just R95!

Easter Sunday sees a feast of lamb on the spit with traditional sides such as pickled fish and desserts including malva pudding and mascarpone cake. Lunch will be served between 12h00 and 16h00 at R275 pp or R100 for kiddies under 12.

Enjoy a fun-filled Easter Sunday at Boschendal, where you can choose between a family picnic, a Sunday lunch feast, or a lunch buffet. Enjoy a picnic under the trees and Easter activities for the little ones at R750 for a basket for two and R165 for a kiddies basket. Hop on over and celebrate Easter Sunday in the Franschhoek Winelands at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate. Enjoy a family picnic complete with an Easter egg hunt for the little ones, live music, and a wide variety of delicious treats.

Easter Marshmallows and Sunday Family lunch at Steenberg, Constantia
