Eikendal Vineyards will celebrate the end of its harvest with a farm-style Weintaufe Carnival on Sunday 5 March 2017, a funfair that promises to entertain young and old.

The Eikendal Weintaufe has become a summertime family tradition in the winelands. You’ll get to enjoy their delicious wines, scrumptious street-style foods, games, lucky draws and live music by the talented Newton & Co.

The estate is known for their wine pedigree, and this year they are placing special focus on their Chardonnay. I tasted the 2015 vintage last week and was thoroughly impressed.

“This year we want to celebrate our Chardonnay in a big way, so come to our winemaking playground and share in the fruits of our labour,” says Eikendal Cellarmaster Nico Grobler.

Nico will “baptise” the latest arrival on the day, after which visitors will be able to sample it straight from the barrel. You can also fill up on food offerings prepared by the resident restaurant, Cucina di Giovanni, known for its delicious Italian fare.

Apart from the foods and wine, you can enjoy complimentary tractor rides, grape stomping and golfing action at the dam. And there will be kiddies entertainment so that moms and dads can kick back at the water’s edge. Entertainment ranges from face painting and popular cookie decorations to clowning around in the jungle gym or on the lawn and jumping castle.

Tickets for the Eikendal Weintaufe Harvest Carnival 2017 will be available at the gates on the day at R80 per person, which gets you a free glass and tasting from the barrel plus entertainment on the day. Under 18s enter for free.

Gates open at 10:00 and the ceremonies will take place at 12:00.
