Happy hour is that incredible time of day where drinks and snacks become half-price. Like you need another reason to celebrate!

Living in a student town, we are extremely lucky to have many options for drinking specials. If you look hard enough, you could probably find a special for everyday of the week.

Keen for some budget-friendly exploring? These are a few of our favourite places for happy hours/ drink specials in Stellenbosch:

Hudsons The Burger Joint | Monday to Friday | 16:00 – 18:30

One of my favourites is the Hudsons happy hour, where all cocktails, wines, beers and tapas are half price. The tapas are decently sized so this is a winner for all the drinks you’ll be having.

Tiger’s Milk | Monday to Sunday |16:00 – 19:00

Everyday from 4 to 7, Tiger’s Milk offers the popular Pick Your Poison, two-for-one special on some of their beers, wines and cocktails. If you catch this on a Monday, they have a burger special – make it a double win!

Keep your eyes on their Instagram feed – they have sneaky ‘ladies drink free’ specials on some Saturdays.

The Trumpet Tree | Monday to Sunday | 15:00 – 17:00

For those times when you’re really feeling like having beer, Trumpet Tree offers a ‘3-liter beer tower for R100’ special. Or if you’re in the mood for something else, they have brandy and coke/ gin and tonic/ vodka and mix deals at super affordable prices.

The Happy Oak | Monday to Sunday | 13:00 – 14:00 & 17:30 – 18:30

The Happy Oak has two happy hours – one during lunch time and one for after work. The specials include 2-for-1 drinks special, as well as beer specials.

Courtyard Café | Wednesday & Friday | 12:00 – 24:00

On Wednesdays & Fridays Courtyard Café has a R90 special for a beer or double tap G&T jug. Every other day of the week offers whiskey/ brandy/ vodka and mix specials and on Thursday they have an amazing all-you-can-eat tapas special.
