Most of us hit the gym during the day, either before or after work, and we can all say that we want to feel like the “gym person in the office”, but without the look and smell of having just come from a good old cardio session! From dry shampoo to tinted moisturiser, our gym bags are packed and ready. Take a look what’s in our bags below:
Avéne Thermal Spring Water
R 149, 95 for 150ml, clicks.co.za
I decided to give the Sweat App a go this June. This means early mornings in the gym – every morning! For the cardio days, I go spinning and I’ve noticed that my ankles get quite irritated by the chaffing of my socks. I gave this soothing, anti-irritant spray a go and loved the way it made my skin feel. It soothed that very irritating feel and removed some of the redness. I also spray some on my face after those really intense spinning sessions, and it cools down my skin without irritating it, which I absolutely adore!
Waterl<ss Dry Shampoo
R149 for 160ml, clicks.co.za
Just before closing my bag, I quickly slipped in my Waterl<ss Dry shampoo for my one-night business trip, just for in case. To save on space and weight I left my shampoo and conditioner at home for this express trip, as I had washed my hair the night before, and would return the following day. Unexpectedly, I needed to stay another night to attend a client function. With being out all day, not having shampoo and conditioner, and only having 30 minutes to get ready for this semi-formal event, my emergency dry shampoo completely saved me. After a quick shower, I jumped into my outfit and applied the dry shampoo on the parts where my hair was starting to look oily. A mere 25 minutes later, I walked out of the guesthouse looking as though I had spent hours doing my hair.
If it hadn’t been for my impulsive choice to slip this dry shampoo into my baggage, I would have pitched at the function with either wet or dirty hair. I will never leave home without this life saver again, and even bought a second one to pop in my gym bag, for those unexpected events and coffee dates.
Nivea Anti-Perspirant Dry Fresh Aerosol
R39,95 for 150ml, foschiniforbeauty.co.za
I was on a date with this very hunky guy and the date went really well, because he invited me to go hiking with him and some friends the following weekend. Anyone who knows me will tell you that exercise is not on top of my priority list. I just “can’t seem to find my trainers” or suddenly develop a horrible cough. But I was a bit of a sucker for this guy and would do anything to impress him, so off hiking I went!
I popped the Nivea Dry Fresh Aerosol into my bag, miraculously found my trainers and went into the mountains of Stellenbosch. The Nivea Dry Fresh Aerosol didn’t leave any residue on my clothes and I didn’t experience that burning sensation that I get from most antiperspirant sprays after a shave. I didn’t look that good by the time we reached the top of the mountain, but I smelled fresh AF. That I can promise you.
Dermalogica sheer tint moisturiser
R799,00 for 40ml, dermalogica.co.za
I’m one of those girls who will 100% hit the gym, get sweaty and hit the showers and then forget to reapply everything again. Hey, it happens. I absolutely love this tinted moisturiser for these reasons: it’s non-greasy and non-sticky, is completely devoid of artificial fragrances – my skin is super prone to drying out or breaking out, so to me this is a massive plus – and has an SPF 20 (we all know we should be wearing sunscreen even in winter).
And because it’s tinted, I can apply my moisturiser and walk out of the gym reassured that any red or flushed patches (cardio, guys. It’s a workout for the skin as well), will be concealed without having reapplied a whole new layer of foundation.
It doesn’t just stay in my gym bag, though. This baby travels everywhere with me, just in case.
