Following a low-carb diet can be hard to manage with a busy schedule. As someone who usually goes for ready-made meals and easy-meal options, finding a good low-carb option for a night I’d rather not be cooking can be super difficult.

Personally, when I limit my carb intake, I still want to eat the same food as before, just a less carby version. When I don’t feel like a salad or veggies, I don’t want to feel like that’s in fact my only option.

This is why finding low-carb alternatives to my carby favourites really gets me excited. I’ve found a few local producers offering great low-carb alternatives.

TrulyGood Food

When I first discovered the TrulyGood Food vegetable wraps and pizza bases, I was very sceptical. Wraps made from turnips and cauliflower just didn’t seem right. But these guys really nailed it.

The wraps are super thin, light and don’t break easily, so you can easily fill them with your favourite goods.

If you’re as big of a pizza lover as I am, their bases are a great option. They only need about 10 minutes in the oven, making them super convenient.

Macro Mixes

For all things sweet, delicious and baked, the MacroMixes are a great option. Extremely convenient and easy to make, the mixes offer options like protein pancakes, vegan brownies, banana loafs and recently they’ve even added porridges to the mix.

The protein pancakes are a winner for a low carb version, with a balance of macronutrients.

If you have been following a low-carb diet, you will probably be familiar with the Woolies Carb Clever range. The ready-made low-carb meals can be a lifesaver for short lunch breaks, or days when you just want to pop something in the microwave.

The cauliflower noodles, seed crackers and low-carb ice cream are all lifesavers.
