Oh yes please! Wolverine is heading our way once again and Logan promises even more raw, intense, action packed mutant drama.
I love myself a good X-Men film and Wolverine is by far my favourite character from the franchise. It might have to do with the fact that I think Hugh Jackman is one of the greatest actors out there at the moment, but mostly it’s because Wolverine is such a mysterious, tortured, complex figure who is far more interesting to follow than a morally pure hero figure. That’s probably why I like X-Men in general – none of their characters are cookie-cut good or bad guys. They are all toeing the line between the dark and the light, trying to tame their demons and find peace within their universe.
The latest film was directed by James Mangold, who was also responsible for The Wolverine, Walk the Line about the life of Johnny Cash, and Girl, Interrupted with Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie.
Logan is set in 2024 and sees Logan and Professor Charles Xavier facing the loss of the X-Men in a time when a corporation run by Nathaniel Essex is threatening to destroy the world. At the same time Logan’s healing abilities are slowly fading away and Xavier suffers from Alzheimers, forcing him to forget. They come across a young girl, Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine and must seek her help to defeat Essex.
I’m seriously excited!
