Local fashion brand, Missibaba has expanded on their current offering of luxury bags and accessories to introduce their first piece of wearable art in the form of the delicious Ramona leather jacket. Just give me a moment to wipe the drool from my chin.
The team behind the awe-inspiring design chose to give the leather jackets the much loved name, Ramona, as it conjures up feelings of a woman who is strong, confident, with a rock n roll spirit.
Since the fit of a leather jacket is absolutely crucial, Missibaba chose to go with the biker silhouette, a timeless classic and therefor a good starting point for the exploration of this new line of design. When Missibaba initially dreamt up the design they enlisted the help of designer and tailor Stiaan Louw to put the jacket pattern together. It is said to fit like a glove.
The team has pulled graphic inspiration from past collections when looking at embellishments to adorn the jackets and The Claw, Lobster and Gemini designs were best suited to this unique canvas. Each jacket has been lined with a pop of colour that was specifically chosen to emphasis and enhance the outer design magic. It also carries a unique label relating to the outer embellishment detail, with a luxurious solid brass zip by Swiss brand RiRi.
Here’s the rub. The jackets retail for a cool R25 000 each but since they are one-of-a-kind, it might just be worth selling a kidney. They are available at the Bree Street store in Cape Town and the TRUMPET, Keyes Art Mile store in Johannesburg.
