I’m constantly looking for great products that can save my dehydrated skin. The quest is to find something soothing and nourishing that is also delicious to apply. And getting a kick of anti-aging benefits always helps. So I was thrilled when I was introduced to the Clarins Double Serum, a gorgeous formulation with potent plant extracts that works to combat ageing while adding essential moisture to your skin.

I’ve been testing the serum over the last month, using it morning and evening after cleansing and before my moisturiser. Honestly, I was won over from the first application. It smells divine, and has a lightweight, gel-liquid quality that easily sinks into your skin, leaving it comfortable without any heavy, sticky residue. You also have the option to adjust the dosage by turning the pump cap. I kept it on the heavier dose but you can use less product if you have a normal / combination skin type.

The serum has a double-barrelled approach. In one compartment they’ve added water-soluble ingredients and in the other, oil-soluble. These work on different levels of your skin, which means double the impact.

Clarins has also delved deeper into the way skincare communicates with our cells. Damage caused by UV rays and oxidative stress, along with age, means that our cells aren’t able to “hear” as well, so they’re not capturing those essential messages that make them create stronger, youthful skin. Clarins found that Turmeric extract has a unique ability to restore a cell’s ability to listen, so there is better communication between the skincare ingredients and your cells.

The Clarins Double Serum contains a total of 21 plant extracts that work to improve the skin by boosting regeneration and oxygenation, providing nutrition, increasing hydration and adding protection against oxidative stress. That means your skin starts to look firmer, more radiant and more even.

So what did I think?

Aside from the pure pleasure of using the Clarins Double Serum, I did also notice a huge improvement is my skin’s overall texture and hydration levels. After using it for a month my skin felt more comfortable, looked smoother and had a more radiant quality. I especially love this for the summer months since it doesn’t feel heavy, but it still does the job at balancing my skin’s moisture levels.

Keen to try it out? The Clarins Double Serum retails for R935 for 30ml or R1 250 for 50ml, and you can find it at select department stores like Edgars and Woolworths. You can find more info at clarins.co.za

    Hi Liezel,

We recently moved to Perth and my skin is extremely dry.

I am in 2 minds about the Clarins Double Serum an Estee Lauder’s Advance Night Repair. Have you tried both and would you be able to give me some insights.

    Thanks a mill!

Hey Tanya. I can really vouch for the Clarins Double Serum. If your skin is super dry, I would recommend you use this serum, and then maybe use a barrier balm over everything at night. That’s usually my go-to routine in winter when my skin flips out.
