I’m a little shellshocked about the fact that we are halfway through October. It is really only a hop and a skip until everyone switches off their computers and disappears to obscure corners of our country to unwind and reset. As we get a peek at the new fashion lines hitting the stores for the Spring Summer 2017 season, I am finding myself dreaming about roadtrips, weekends and holidays by the beach.
Over the years I’ve come to associate Old Khaki fashion with exactly this. I think about music festivals, weekends in the Karoo, roadtripping up the West Coast for some seafood in Paternoster, watching the sun set on the beach, your toes digging into the sand. On seeing their new collection this week all these associations popped right back into my mind and officially tipped my mind into holiday mode. It’s not surprising since the range was inspired by dream holiday destinations like Marrakesh, Capri and Zanzibar.

The new range is quite similar to what we’ve been seeing over the last few years, with a selection of easy-to-wear, casual pieces. The colour palette features spicy oranges, rust and dusty rose, washed-out denim, olive greens and pure whites with blue trimmings that will conjure up longings for the Mediterranean coast.
I was particularly drawn to the loose maxi and shorter floral style dresses that fell right in with the current Boho trend dominating the fashion scene. You’ll also find a great selection of shorts and shirts in neutral shades, as well as a little button-up denim dress that I absolutely adore. All these are also easy to dress up or down. Wear them with strappy sandals, sneakers or brogues for a Saturday market day, or throw on some espadrille wedges and a leather jacket for sundowners.
It’s also worth popping into the store for their collection of sandals and flats. As always you can expect some classic leather pieces that are key this season and worth the investment. And while we’re talking accessories, how gorgeous are their leather bags? I have my eye on the green one with tassel details (take a look below).
If you’re looking for some laid back weekend pieces, go take a look. Here are some of my favourites spotted at their media launch.
