There’s a reason it’s called beauty sleep, and we need all the protection and hydration we can get while we snooze. The 9Lives team added these night creams to our skincare routines while the much needed beauty sleep occurred. Here is this week’s beauty round-up, full of protective and hydrating night creams:

Noreva Trio White Night-Time Intensive Depigmenting Care

R399,oo for 30ml, clicks.co.za

I don’t have a problem with pigmentation at the moment, but since I’m a redhead, my skin is much more sensitive and it can become prone to pigmentation as I age. That’s why I decided to try out the Noreva Trio White Night-Time Intensive Depigmenting Care night cream, and I’m impressed!

This night cream from Noreva promises to decrease pigmentation through their dermatologically-formulated depigmenting care. Big words like “Reductol” and “VitC2G” can be found in the ingredients list, and they’re the active ingredients that work to block melanin production, reducing and preventing dark spots and pigmentation. It has a very easy to use nozzle, and the cream has a lovely gel-cream texture that just soaks into the skin. And as an added bonus, it has a very delicate, fresh scent.

Skin Nutrition Night Cream

R605,00 for 50ml, foschiniforbeauty.co.za

When I’m on the lookout for a night cream the first question that I ask myself is: “Will this hydrate and protect my skin without making my skin feel oily?” And then I take that bottle straight from the shop and incorporate it into my nighttime routine.

The first time I had the Skin Nutrition Night Cream in my hand and read the ingredients on the back, it sounded like something I could eat! A fruit bowl full of freshness full of Raspberries, Blackcurrant and Cranberries! At first it felt a bit heavy, like too much Shea butter, but as the night passed it soaked into my skin, making it feel softer and more supple.

This is on my bedside table and I can’t wait to see more results as I go on using this night cream in my skin care routine.

Nivea Perfect & Radiant Night Cream

R109,99 for 50ml, clicks.co.za

Up until recently, I never really understood the reasoning behind using a night cream. I mean, I use a serum and a moisturiser in the mornings, surely that’s good enough?

Turns out, not so much, because this night cream created by Nivea and formulated especially for sensitive skin has completely changed my skin for the better. This cream, which is slightly on the thicker side and uses grapeseed oil as its active ingredient, has vastly improved my nighttime routine. Now I can’t wait to apply this thick, hydrating cream after showering, as it immediately alleviates any sense of tight skin or itchiness. It has been formulated without colourants and perfume to be as non-irritating as possible, and to help with all regeneration processes that take place during the night. Total winner for me.

Cetaphil Rich Night Cream with Hyaluronic acid

R359 for 50ml, clicks.co.za

I’ve been a fan of Cetaphil since trying their body lotion at the end of last year, so I might have physically wrestled Marie to try out this night cream. What I love most about this cream is the fact that it is quite rich but it does not leave your skin feeling sticky. I also have very sensitive skin and therefore love the fact that Cetaphil’s products are both hypoallergenic and fragrance-free.

As the name suggests, this cream contains hyaluronic acid which helps your skin maintain its moisture levels. Your skin actually produces its own naturally, but sometimes we just need that  extra bump to strengthen our skin’s natural moisture barrier to protect from dryness. The result? I wake up every morning with my skin feeling terrifically moisturised and glowing.

Filorga Time-Filler Eyes Absolute Eye Correction Cream,

R828 for 50ml, absolutskin.co.za

I have always believed that prevention is better than cure, so why wait until you have puffy, wrinkled eyes before starting to make use of a cream or treatment to save the damage. I tried this Time-Filler Eyes Absolute Eye Correction Cream by Filorga and was supprised by the difference I felt, right from the first time I used it. Apart from its amazing smell, it also hydrated my skin and did great work on my puffy eyes.

I can’t wait to see the end results after I have finished my first Filorga tub.

The VaaIie girl with a laugh better than the joke itself. If you’ve lost me in the crowd, look for the red hat. Or the shoulder pads. Or the floral-patterned blazer. I’ve got a winner of a party trick, just give me a shot of tequila and a raw egg, and if you’re not sure how to start the conversation, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.
