Face masks are all the rage in the world of beauty. From sleepovers when you where a teen, to some much needed every-day TLC as an adult. Your gran probably gave you one as a birthday gift and your brother laughed in your face and called you the Joker one too many times. But we’re here to tell you that it’s an undeniable necessity.

So put on a mask, grab yourself a drink, put up your feet and wait for the magic to happen with our face masks beauty round-up:

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque

R525 for 125ml, kiehls.co.za

Since having a baby, my beauty routine has become short and sweet since my top priority is getting as much sleep as possible. So any product that gets to work while I’m snoozing wins a spot on my top shelf. I absolutely adore this Overnight Hydrating Masque from Kiehl’s, which contains a bunch of hydrating plant extracts that work to intensely nourish my skin while I’m sleeping. I apply it after cleansing at night, leave it for 10 minutes and then lightly tissue off the excess. It leaves a slightly damp feel, and the next morning my skin always feels perfectly refreshed and plumped up. It can be used once a week before bed.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Quench Sheet Mask

R95.00 for 18ml, thebodyshop.co.za or clicks.co.za

If you are looking for a hydrating mask that will soothe and hydrate your skin after washing your face, this is it! There is nothing better than a sheet mask that you can easily apply and simply peel off once all the nourishing ingredients have soaked into your skin (it only takes 15 minutes).

The Body Shop Vitamin E Quench Sheet Mask is made up of only the best hydrating ingredients such as Community Trade organic aloe vera, natural-origin hyaluronic acid and wheatgerm oil. This is definitely the perfect mask to lock in moisture for a softer, smoother and re-plumped face! Plus, the sheet itself is biodegradable, making it better for Mother Earth too.

SkinDerm Hydrating Repair Mask

R395 for 50ml, perfect10.co.za

This winter has been very harsh on my skin! For the first time, I experienced a wide spectrum of contrary symptoms, from very dry and flaky skin to excessive oil production. This Skinderm repair mask made a massive difference from the first time I used it. It can also be used as a leave-on mask to penetrate and repair. I continued using the mask once a week, and my skin has stabilised. I love how moisturised and plump my skin feels, even though it is still winter! I have realised how important extra facial care is, besides just a wash-and-moisturise routine to ensure a healthy winter skin.

Avène Soothing Radiance Mask

R249.95 for 50ml, avene.co.za

I loved how the Avène Soothing Radiance Mask felt on my skin after I had used a toner. Usually, toners can make your skin feel a little bit tight, but the mask’s cooling and soothing effect felt wonderful! After applying a thick layer of the mask on my face, I left it on for about 15 minutes and removed it with a cotton pad. Afterwards, my skin felt refreshed, soft and super smooth. The mask includes ingredients such as natural red-fruit extract which acts as a skin cell booster, a powerful antioxidant called Pre-tocopheryl which helps protect the skin against free radicals and hydro-nourishing agents, like safflower oil, which deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin. The mask also includes the classic Avène Thermal Spring Water which really soothes and softens the skin.

The VaaIie girl with a laugh better than the joke itself. If you’ve lost me in the crowd, look for the red hat. Or the shoulder pads. Or the floral-patterned blazer. I’ve got a winner of a party trick, just give me a shot of tequila and a raw egg, and if you’re not sure how to start the conversation, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.
