Our favourite body products this winter | 9Lives
Reading Time: 4 min

When it comes to body products, we’ve tried moisturizers and body washes, hand cream and everything in between. But with the days colder than ever, we here at 9Lives decided that it was time to provide our bodies with that little bit extra: some much needed TLC that our skin and bodies need in these colder, darker times. From a body wash, to a cleansing oil, cream wash and moisturizing lotion, here’s our favourite TLC winter skincare products.

Nivea Care Shower Lemongrass & Oil

R36,99 for 250ml, clicks.co.za

I’ve always been a fan of Nivea’s shower gels, and you’ll probably find at least one bottle in my shower at any time! I just love refreshing the scent of this lemongrass & oil shower gel, and the care oil pearls leave my skin hydrated and smooth without the need for an additional moisturiser. The best part about this shower gel is how well it foams, I ended up using about half the amount of gel that I usually would, because it creates such a good lather with much less product. I especially love using this gel during my morning shower, as the refreshing lemongrass scent helps wake me up and gets me ready for the day ahead!

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Syndet AP+ Cream Wash

R290,46 for 400ml, Dermastore.co.za

Let’s be honest, dry skin is not a thing you want to worry about! But even though you don’t want to worry about it, dry skin happen to you, and can affect your entire body. Luckily La Roche-Posay worries about dry skin and has the solution for your dry winter body: their Lipikar Syndet AP+ Cream Wash!

It’s perfectly formulated for dry and sensitive skin and with just one wash your skin feels more hydrated and moisturized. I’m not a big fan of too much fragrance when it comes to soaps and such, but the Lipikar Syndet Ap+ has just a small hint of fragrance that gives a hint of freshness, and that’s all I want!

It’s super creamy but doesn’t leave any residue, and you can immediately feel the Shea Butter in the cream wash. It has just enough extra hydration your skin needs in the colder months!

Noreva Xerodiane AP+ Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil

R319,95 for 400ml, lebeautyclub.co.za

I have to admit that this is the first time I’ve heard about the Noreva products, so I was excited to give it a first go. I look for something rich and replenishing for my drier winter skin, especially in the winter. Stellenbosch is exceptionally cold this year, but last weekend I took a trip to the Free State where my skin really took a knock in the much drier conditions. I therefore loved the texture of the cleansing oil, which is a bit thicker. I also loved the fact that it left my skin feeling soft and moisturised and it also substantially relieved a lot of the itchiness I was experiencing in the dry Free State air. The product is fragrance-free, which is great for those who, like me, have a bit more of a sensitive skin.

Their formula is also soap-free with a gentle cleansing base which means that the entire family can use this cleansing oil. The oil repels grease and dirt while, at the same time, replenishes your skin with lipids; and if you have hecticly dry skin like me, you’ll want to replenish your lipids to add to your skin’s elasticity. I’ve also been using the product on my face and I can definitely testify to its gentle formulation and hydration properties.

Epimax moisturising lotion

R65,00 for 450ml, takealot.com

Okay so I have to say that I’m really bad with applying body lotions and creams… I know, I know, it hydrates your skin and keeps it moisturised and supple. But honestly, as soon as I get out of the shower, all I want to do is climb into some warm, snuggly PJ’s. So this week, upon deciding to try out the Epimax moisturising lotion, I made a concerted effort to apply it before climbing into my clothes. Worth it? Totally.

I love that it’s texture is thick and hydrating without being greasy or sticky, and I can absolutely see the difference that it’s made to my skin. Sure, I still forget to apply it sometimes, but I can definitely feel it when I don’t. Which means that I’m making a conscious decision to include it in my daily self-care routine, even if it means braving the cold for a few minutes more. Best of all? It’s not tested on animals!
