Recipe: Banana, Avo & Almond Breakfast Smoothie

I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but I’ll often rush out the door without grabbing anything to eat. At best there will be a banana or an apple to munch on as I walk to work. At worst I’ll find myself hungry beyond measure at around 10am and reach for some cereal at the office. Not ideal.

I find breakfast smoothies a super convenient way to start the day right, and they take no time at all to make. This is one of my favourite combinations. You might think avocado is an odd ingredient for a smoothie, but the taste is actually pretty neutral and it adds a lovely creamy consistency without the need for dairy.

If you want to make it even healthier you can also chuck in a dash of probiotics. This just gives your digestive system a little extra TLC. You can get these at most pharmacies and health shops these days.

If you want the smoothie to be chilled you can add frozen instead of fresh banana.

Banana, Avo & Almond Breakfast Smoothie

1 banana

1/2 an avocado

1 tbsp almond butter

1 tsp honey

1 tbsp probiotics

125 ml coconut water, or more to reach the desired consistency

 

Blend all the ingredients in a blender. Enjoy!
