During the weekend of 20 – 22 October 2017, the banks of the Breede River on Goudmyn Farm will come alive with the valley’s winemakers, local chefs and producers. You’ll get to taste award-winning wines from almost 30 wineries, while you unwind with fresh country air and beautiful scenery.

This spring festival is family friendly so load the whole lot in the car. Kids will be entertained at a dedicated kids-area, or with boat cruises, horse- and tractor rides. In the meantime you can explore the new #TastetheLifestyle tent with a line up of wine offerings. The more serious wine lovers can book a slot for an interactive wine tasting with a local winemaker focusing on a specific cultivar of the valley.

You can also be part of the third annual Duck Derby on Sunday, when blue and yellow ducks will race down the river. Individuals can purchase a yellow duck for R100 and businesses can bet on a blue duck for R1000. Winners receive R5000 cash!

Aside from this, there will be various lucky draws throughout the weekend. The proceeds from this initiative will go towards the Bonnie-People Project in Bonnievale which assists the inhabitants of the settlement in building and developing sustainable components within their community, focusing on the future of their children. Last year they raised just under R250 000!

The Robertson Wine Valley will also continue their support towards the Thunderchild project in aid of the local Children’s Home, by selling Thunderchild wine from their stall and to raise awareness on this fantastic project.

Before you leave, stock up for the summer months. Wines will be sold on site at cellar door prices so you can go home with your favourites.

To support responsible tasting, complimentary shuttle services are available from central spots in local towns, Robertson; Bonnievale and Montagu to the event on Saturday. There is day in and out trips from Cape Town available, as well as local taxi’s.

I am a lifestyle blogger from Cape Town trying to find the best ways to spend my time, take care of my body and express myself. I am slightly obsessed with fragrances, sneakers, Jamie Oliver and Masterchef Australia. Oh, and I probably drink way too much wine.
