The Cape Town Carnival will take place on 18 March on the Green Point Fan Walk, promising to once again light up the city with a spectacular showcase.

The Cape Town carnival, which is held annually in March, is one of the country’s top street parades. It celebrates the vibrant diversity of Cape Town – and South Africa – with more than 50 community groups bringing the Green Point Fan Walk alive with magnificent floats, giant puppets and extravagant costumes. Thousands of spectators from all over the world converge along the 1.2km parade route.

The theme for the carnival this year is “AMAZA – Ocean Odyssey”, and the floats and costumes will showcase many delights from the sea. With up to 50 000 people expected to pour into the Mother City to take part in the festivities, you know this is going to be a night to remember.

This year, Channel O, a sponsor of the event, is going to amp up the open-air after party with a top DJ line-up. Local award-winning DJs Fresh and Euphonik will be taking to the stage at the end of the Fan Walk, bringing you live music from a gigantic sea-urchin float. Sounds pretty impressive!

Make sure you save the date for this one, it’s going to be a proper showstopper.
