The first signs of springtime are starting to show, which means it is nearly time to shrug off the heavy winter layers and swap them for breezy dresses, soft flowing shirts and delicate scarves. Over the last few weeks I have been introduced to four juicy new spring fragrances that will perfectly complement your spring/summer wardrobe, from soft and feminine florals to sexy little numbers. It’s time to fall in love with the sunny seasons all over again.

Giorgio Armani Sky di Gioia Eau de Parfum

From R1 526, select department stores

Giorgio Armani Sky di Gioia Liezel Malherbe 9Lives 2

This new addition to the Acqua Di Gioia family was inspired by the sunrise over the Mediteranean, glowing pink over the sea. “I’m fascinated by the dawn with its continuously changing colours and the endless contrasts of light and shade,” Giorgio Armani said of SKY di Gioia. The bottle takes its cue from this, a pale pink glass pebble that intensifies into a bright fuchsia cap.

Perfumer Marie Salamagne created a soft fragrance centered around the dew-fresh rose the heart of SKY di Gioia. It is accompanied by sparkling, fruity head notes: fresh, juicy lychee and crispy green pear. This softens into velvet peony, rosebud and salty Transluzone. And finally, the fragrance settles into white musk, blackcurrant buds and blackberry leaves.

The juice is unashamedly soft, flirtatious and feminine, and the perfect pairing for a flowing sun dress.

YSL Black Opium Wild Eau de Parfum – Limited Edition

R1 245 for 50ml, select department stores

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Limited Edition Liezel Malherbe 9Lives 2

Black Opium remains one of my favourite scents, with the power to make me feel instantly seductive and sexy. Now the original juice has a wild new limited edition packaging. The new bottle was inspired by the woman who wears Black Opium: the Feline Predator with a killer instinct: Fiery, passionate and sensual.

The Black Opium Wild Edition has a sparkling box like a glimmering jacket or faux-fur coat, which then opens to reveal the wild, shimmering bottle – a leopard with a fiery heart.

The juice itself plays around with dark and light. The bitterness of coffee wraps around radiant white flowers, with bold vanilla, woody cedar and patchouli to give it roundness and depth. It is completely addictive.

Jimmy Choo L’Eau

From R645, Foschini, Edgars & Red Square, Truworths

Jimmy Choo L'Eau Liezel Malherbe 9Lives

Jimmy Choo L’Eau has been inspired by modern femininity: alluring and adventurous, elegant and yet free-spirited.

Composed by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Jimmy Choo L’Eau is floral, fresh and musky. “Jimmy Choo L’Eau captures the scent of a delicious thirst-quenching hibiscus flower blended with
barks, fruits and vibrant woods, to create a radiant feminine sensuality.” says Karagueuzoglou.

Top notes of hibiscus flower and bergamot blend into sweet nectarine and floral peony at the heart of the scent. The fruity and floral notes are then grounded by the base notes of heady cedarwood and musk.

The bottle was inspired by Venetian Murano glass. The elongated form offers a slender and refined silhouette in pale pink, evoking notions of delicate and sensual femininity. The elegant bottle is topped with a pale pink 3D cube with metallic gilded edges, adding a touch of modernity to the luxurious design.

It is sweet, bright and sensual; a perfect pairing to your spring/summer adventures.

Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct

From R695, Foschini, Edgars & Red Square

Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct Liezel Malherbe 9Lives

First Instinct for Women is inspired by that first moment of attraction, the excitement and anticipation when two people’s eyes meet and a spark ignites.

“I feel that First Instinct for Women is at once playful, feminine, and alluring,” says master perfumer Laurent le Guernec. “With a sensual opening, a sparkling development and a
trail of irresistible yet effortless seduction, this formula was crafted to ensure captivation.”

First Instinct for Women opens with sunny Magnolia flowers coupled with bright grapefruit zest and passion fruit. These fresh, warm top notes are supported by a sensual, floral heart of wild orange flower, butterfly orchid and water lily, and at the base you’ll find warm amber, creamy tonka and soft musk to complete the trail of seduction.

If you like sweet, fresh, floral fragrances then you should definitely give this one a try.

I am a lifestyle blogger from Cape Town trying to find the best ways to spend my time, take care of my body and express myself. I am slightly obsessed with fragrances, sneakers, Jamie Oliver and Masterchef Australia. Oh, and I probably drink way too much wine.
