Where to have Sunday lunch in the Winelands

Sundays are for relaxing with family and friends, and what’s more relaxing than a lazy Sunday lunch you don’t have to prepare yourself? In my opinion, nothing beats that!

We’ve put together a list of our favourite places to enjoy Sunday lunch below, to make it even easier for you!

Flavours Restaurant at the Devon Valley Hotel is one of my favourite “treat yourself” restaurants. They have a relaxed yet reserved fine dining feel to their food and service, and you’ll always be guaranteed good food. Their Sunday lunch buffet is quite expansive, covering everything from soups, breads, mussels, salads and roast beef for starters, to leg of lamb, pork leg, oxtail and veggies for mains. Their dessert is also served buffet style (so don’t fill up too much on mains!) and offers fruit, cakes, sweet treats, pie and ice creams.

What’s better than a braai on a Sunday afternoon? A braai you don’t have to do yourself! Enjoy the taste and relaxed atmosphere of home without any of the hassle of braaing for yourself at Middelvlei Wine Estate. Think freshly baked potbrood for starters, mains of lamb chops, boerewors and sosaties; with braabroodjies, pampoenkoekies, potato salad and green salad for sides. There’s nothing quite like a truly South African braai!

If you’re not in the mood for a buffet style lunch, why not enjoy an à la carte lunch at Clos Malverne? Their starters range from soups and salads to carpaccio and arancini. For mains, they offer fish, steak, lamb and game, so there’s something for everyone! For dessert, spoil yourself to chocolate mousse, fondant, pannacotta or a cheese board. Or get a few to share and have your own mini-buffet!

At Leopard’s Leap’s Rotisserie Sunday Lunch, you pay for what you eat rather than a flat rate, with their selection of salads and sides priced per weight. Once you’ve selected your sides, you can order meat per weight where you have a selection of free-range chicken, lamb, pork belly or beef. Their dessert selection brings back nostalgic memories of childhood, with Rice Krispie treats, peppermint crisp tart and more.

Enjoy a long lazy lunch at The Werf Restaurant at Boschendal where you can relax and catch up with friends and family over a good meal.
