Cafe Frank, Bree Street
This Bree Street institution is known for its wholesome food which usually includes roast chicken and some spectacular salads. Debbie Wynne has been selling essential goods under permit for a week already and will now be expanding her menu. All orders from the menu need to be in by 12 pm the day before (WhatsApp or email) and then payment is accepted via Snapscan or EFT. They deliver to the City Bowl (free), Atlantic Seaboard (R35) and Southern Suburbs (R50).

Cal’Cacchio, nationwide
Everyone’s favourite pizzeria is open for deliveries in select locations across the country. You can order from their extensive menu for delivery via UberEats, OrderIn and Mr D. If you are in the Cape area; they deliver to Blouberg, Claremont, Camps Bay, Canal Walk, Durbanville, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and more.

Chardonnay Deli, near Groot Constantia
Snuggled within the Constantia wine route, this deli and Dalebrook Cafe have been providing patrons with fresh bread and other deli goods. From next week, they will also be able to deliver restaurant meals to Constantia and surrounds (Meadowridge, Steenberg, Bergvliet, Tokai and Bishopscourt). Order before 3 pm from the menu to receive your order the following day.

The Nob Food Truck, Northern Suburbs
Missing markets? The Nob Food Truck will be serving their delicious “No Ordinary Burgers” from 1 May for home deliveries. You simply place your order the day before, and they trade from 12 pm to around 6 pm. They take orders via WhatsApp or Mr Delivery and deliver free within a 5 km radius and payment via EFT, SnapScan or Zapper.

The Cousins, City Bowl
The delectable Italian eatery in the City Bowl, The Cousins, will be opening for deliveries. And get this – the menu consists of freshly made pasta that you cook at home. Think gnocchi, tagliatelle and more! Currently, they will be delivering to the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard, Blouberg, and Flamingo Vlei. Payment will be processed via Snapscan.

Deluxe Coffeeworks, Nationwide
If you are craving Deluxe’s house blend, no need to worry! The team over at Deluxe will be able to deliver straight to your doorstep. You can head over to their website to order and the payment is processed via their integrated paygate. Currently, they are only selling their house blend while they expect single origins to be back in stock after lockdown.

Jason’s Bakery, Cape Town
Creators of one of the most delicious Cape Town experiences, the Saturday doughssant, have made yummy survival packs for purchase. They have various options; from a mini bread survival pack to a pastry pack. The best thing about ordering from them? For every pack sold they donate bread to a person in need.

Vagabond Kitchens, Greater Cape Town Area
If you frequent the V&A Food Market, Bay Harbour Market or Masons Press, you’ll definitely be familiar with the delicious Vagabond Kitchens. From the start of May, you’ll be able to order from a shortened menu via their app for delivery in your area. Think wraps – cape malay chicken, basil pesto and avo, crispy pork belly and more.

Oblivion Bar & Kitchen, Southern Suburbs
This Southern Suburbs institution is opening their doors on the 1st of May for the delivery of pizzas, burgers and breakfast items to the Southern Suburb folks. While you can order via Mr D or Uber Eats, you’ll also be able to phone in and have one of the waitrons deliver.

Book Lounge, Cape Town CBD
Thank the literary heavens! The Book Lounge is back in full swing. This beautiful nook in the City Bowl will be open from the 1st of May, but still encourage patrons to phone in their order for pickup at the door. They will be delivering as well – free delivery for orders over R300 in a 20 km radius. You can even send them a mail asking for recommendations and they will gladly assist.

Truck Norris, Cape Town
The guys over at Truck Norris came up with the cool Survival Burger Kits concepts. Usually a food truck, this entrepreneur decided to convert to delivering DIY burger kits to patrons. These kits include four burger patties, 4 burger buns, cheese, sauce and pickles – delicious! Just WhatsApp to order.

Oranjezicht City Farm and Market Day, Cape Town
If you are dying for a Saturday excursion for fresh fruits and veg, we do have some good news. The City of Cape Town has approved plans for the continuation of the OZCF Market to go ahead and provide essentials such as veg and fruit, dairy, meat, fish, cheese, olives, and more. Temperatures and contact details of everyone who enter will be taken. They have also teamed up with UCook, creating a platform where you can order fresh goodies.

Arthur’s Mini Super, Sea Point
Everyone’s favourite quirky little supermarket, Arthur’s Mini Super, is open for essentials such as bread, bagels, eggs, milk, cheese and veg. You can WhatsApp in your order and keep an eye on their Instagram profile for an up-to-date menu and price list.


El Burro, Cape Town
Craving Mexican? No worries! The El Burro team has put together taco boxes available for delivery from 4 May 2020. They good news is that they will be delivering to the Northern Suburbs, as well as Stellenbosch, Strand and Somerset West! Head to their Instagram Stories to see creations by home chefs using the taco box.

Babylonstoren, Franschhoek
Even though roaming the Versailles-like Babylonstoren gardens are now out of the question, you can still order from their farm shop. Order by 12 pm for next day deliveries to Paarl, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, City Bowl, and Southern and Northern Suburbs. Currently, they provide farm fresh produce, as well as select pantry items.

Yes, we desperately miss after-work drinks at The Meeting Place, but to combat the feels, the guys at The Meeting Place have conceptualised the cutest ‘Breakfast in Bed’ and ‘Lunch in the Garden’ meals. Think croissants and flapjacks, lasagna and chicken pie with cappuccinos and their famous cheesecake delivered straight to your door! WhatsApp to order for delivery in Stellenbosch and its neighbourhoods.

Holy Dough, Stellenbosch & Strand
From the 1st of May you can order all the pizza deliciousness you need (until the dough runs out) from newcomers Holy Dough in both Stellenbosch and Strand. They are available via Mr D and UberEats, as well as store delivery for only R25.

De Warenmarkt, Stellenbosch
Corner shop and Ryneveld Street favourite, De Warenmarkt, is opening in May with a shortened takeaway menu. You can call or email in your order for delivery from 10 am to 6 pm daily. I glanced at the menu and they are delivering oysters as well – happiness!

Hamm & Uys Eatery, Stellenbosch
The guys over at the Blaauwklippen restaurant, Hamm & Uys, present a delicious ‘Our Roast – Your House’ menu concept. You can order an entire Sunday roast for delivery to your home. Order by 3 pm on a Friday for delivery on Sunday in Stellenbosch and Somerset West. Think lamb bredie, roast chicken, sweet potato and milk tart.

EatAway, Stellenbosch
Fresh farm produce, bread, frozen meals and more delivered straight to your door? Yes, please! Order before 6 pm daily for next day delivery in Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Durbanville. Their offering also includes fresh meat and charcuterie, as well as freshly-made smoothies. Their frozen meal recipes are from Stellenbosch Java Bistro.

Mont Marie, Stellenbosch
Although we are sorely missing the Mont Marie views, no need to miss their delicious food. From the 1st of May you can order some of their main dishes, serving two, for delivery within a 8km radius. The menu includes favourites such as chicken pie, Mac and Cheese, Lasagna and more.

Genki’s, Stellenbosch
You cannot talk about sushi in Stellenbosch without mentioning Genki’s. They have put together a special takeaway menu for delivery in the Stellenbosch area. All orders above R300 will qualify for free delivery and they will be taking payment via card, cash or Zapper. They are also looking into expanding delivery to Somerset West and Franschhoek.

Decameron, Stellenbosch
Pizza, pasta and roast chicken? Count us in! Decameron, in the heart of Stellenbosch, is providing pizza and pasta for delivery in town. They take payment via EFT and cash, and deliver within an hour for only R25. You can phone in orders between 11 am and 7 pm daily.

Bertus Basson, Stellenbosch
As we all know, Bertus Basson is a busy man. Except for regularly sharing recipes and laughs on his Instagram during lockdown, he also started a soup kitchen at his Eike restaurant. As we head into phase 4, he is opening the following options for his Stellenbosch patrons.

De Vrije Burger
Arguably the best burgers in town, this takeaway joint is opening up for delivery on UberEats between 12 pm and 8 pm.

From 5 May 2020, Bertus will once again have his three-course menu up for delivery in Stellenbosch, Strand, Gordon’s Bay and Somerset West. Order by 12pm for next day delivery – think cremora tart, slow-cooked beef shin and homemade bread.

Overture at home
I’m so excited to try this one! Overture will be providing three-course meals for two for delivery Tuesdays to Sundays. They provide free delivery within a 20 km radius; just phone in before 6 pm for a next day delivery.

Gabriëlskloof, Botrivier
The team from this wine farm in the Overberg is currently preparing a variety of frozen meals, picnics, platters and Chef @ Home packs for delivery. The frozen meals include favourites such as lasagna and pie, while the at-home meals are made up out of comfort meals such as pork belly and melanzane. They deliver to Botrivier daily and spread out the rest of the areas over the course of the week.

Kikka, Paarl
Don’t forget about Paarl! Kikka is providing patrons with three meal solutions which includes a daily cooked meal, a resealable and freezeable meal-in-a-bag solution and on the weekend they have three-course meals. They are also planning a special Mother’s Day to keep an eye out for. Currently, they deliver in the Paarl area.
