Face mists are one of my favourite new skin things. Use it to boost moisture levels, as a pick-me-up during the day or to hydrate your skin mid-flight on route to the next exotic destination. Here are three I’m particularly fond of.
Urban Decay Quick Fix Hydra Charged Complexion Prep Priming Spray
R450 for 118ml, Urban Decay boutique Sandton City, Stuttafords Sandton, Foschini Eastgate and foschiniforbeauty.co.za
This spray was developed in partnership with Skindinavia, who are famous for their high tech setting sprays. You can use it before your primer to boost moisture levels and to smooth and brighten your skin. It is also brilliant any time you feel your skin needs a quick boost, over makeup or on clean skin.
Urban Decay has packed this formula with skin-loving ingredients. These include Vitamin B3, a brilliant antioxidant that also smooths and restores your skin, Sepitonic M3 which works against free-radical damage, and hydrating coconut water.
It has a mild, clean smell and it leaves my skin feeling soft and comfortable, with a dewy glow.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist
R350 for 100ml, elizabetharden.co.za
The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is one of those iconic beauty products, loved for its moisturising and multi-tasking properties. Now they’ve introduced their Eight Hour Miracle Mist that hydrates and refreshes your skin whenever you need a pick me up.
The mist contains a blend of super fruits like acai, goji, mangosteen, noni, pomegranate and coffee seed extracts that are packed with antioxidants. They’ve also added aloe juice to sooth and moisturise, apple leaf extract that is said to calm and comfort your skin, and humectants like glycerin and Sodium PCA that attracts and binds moisture to the skin.
It has a soft, light fruity smell and it gives my skin a natural glow while boosting moisture levels.
Me & Youth Quick Makeup Fix Three-in-One Mist
R250 for 50ml, meandyouth.com
One of the first skin mists I used was by BeautyFix, which has recently been rebranded as Me & Youth. Their Quick Makeup Fix is a brilliant all-rounder, priming your skin before you apply makeup, refining your final makeup look and refreshing it throughout the day.
The mist contains rose water extract, which is mostly there as a fragrance, as well as soothing Aloe Vera leaf juice and cucumber, a good source of antioxidants like Vitamin C and caffeic acid.
I like using it as a hydrating face mist first and to refresh during the day, and it also works well to blend your makeup for a polished end-result.
