A combination of stress, bad diet, and minimal exercise has had my skin looking worse for the wear these last few weeks. Top it all off with a horrible case of “maskne” and I was about ready to call it quits with skincare once and for all. Luckily, I had the pleasure of receiving a Placecol Vitamin and Mineral Smoothie Facial and it’s as delicious as it sounds! This treatment comes as the solution to my, and many others’, problems as listed above and aims to correct the damage done by lockdown on our skincare routines.
The treatment is packed full of, you guessed it, vitamins and minerals, and acts as an energy boost to revive neglected and tired skin. What especially stood out to me was the fact that it contains a lot of Vitamin D since, as they correctly estimated, our skins are desperate for some sun-energy after being cooped up at home during winter for so long. Along with Vitamin D, the treatment also includes plenty of active ingredients (Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, ATP, powerful B Vitamins, Vitamins A, C and L-lysine) to revive and re-energise the skin. In my mind, this treatment is basically a power smoothie on steroids.
Placecol at Willowbridge were excellent in adhering to the COVID-19 safety measures and protocols, while still delivering on their promise of high-quality and relaxing skin and body care. Upon arriving at the salon, I had to fill out a safety questionnaire, as well as a client card.
My therapist, Danelle, was incredibly sweet, helpful and very patient. The treatments starts with a double cleanse, followed by exfoliation. If you love pink Nesquik, then I have to warn you that it is not advisable to eat the exfoliator but I can promise you, you will want to! It smells delicious! The exfoliation is followed by a process called double-layer masking and collagen repair. While the mask dries, you are treated to the most heavenly neck massage. Don’t blink, because you will surely fall asleep.
Danelle was happy to answer my many questions about skincare and also paid attention to some specific problem areas on my skin, like my chin area which struggles with the dreaded mask-induced acne at the moment. After the treatment, she applied an eye cream, some spot treatments, and broad spectrum SPF to protect my skin from the sun. This is very important since the treatment uses active ingredients!
After the exfoliation my skin felt a little tingly and I applied Placecol’s Optimum Hydro Mask that evening and it cleared up any dryness and soothed my skin really well. I can see a very visible change in my skin’s texture and there is a lovely glow and radiance. My chin area is also doing a lot better after the treatment with some of the blemishes left behind by acne almost completely gone.
With the stress of COVID-19, lockdown, and the normal hustle and bustle of life, treat yourself to a decadent and delicious facial packed with everything your skin is begging for.
