Wondering what to do for Valentine’s this year? I’ve put together a couple of seductive options that are sure to please. Take a look

The Galileo at Nooitgedacht, Stellenbosch

If you’re keen for some cuddling under the stars, book your spot at the Galileo Open Air Cinema Valentine’s screening, taking place at Nooitgedacht in Stellenbosch on Wednesday 14 February. The evening will include a picnic, some live music and a screening of Valentine’s Day starring Julia Roberts.

For R225 pp you’ll get entry, a backrest and blanket, welcome drink and a sweet treat. You can bring your own picnic basket or purchase at the event. The gates open at 5pm and the film starts around 8pm. I recommend you go early to get a good spot.

Lanzerac, Stellenbosch

Lanzerac in Stellenbosch is offering a variety of romantic options for couples.

Try the Wine & Dine with Lanzerac Package for R300 per couple. This includes a special Valentine’s wine tasting, followed by a light lunch platter at the Lanzerac Deli. The Wine & Dine with Lanzerac Package is available at the Estate from 1 to 28 February 2018.

The Lanzerac Couple’s Escape Package includes a special Valentine’s wine tasting, a Ploughman’s Board and sweet treat for two at the Lanzerac Deli for lunch, followed by a Rasul spa treatment for two at Lanzerac Spa. Available from 12 to 28 February 2018 at R800 per couple.

You can also go for the full unwind with the Lanzerac Spa Couple’s Retreat Package at the Lanzerac Spa. At R950 per couple, enjoy a 30-minute Musculavine Back Couple’s Massage, followed by a special tasting of the Lanzerac Valentine’s Wine Hamper. Diemersdal Eatery, Durbanville

The Diemersdal Farm Eatery is serving a special Valentine’s Day Tapas Menu for two at just R800 per couple. On arrival you’ll be served bubbly and oysters, followed by freshly baked farm breads. Then you’ll get to enjoy a three course menu with dishes like quinoa with pickled tomato, ash, and goats cheese panna cotta; wagyu with sherry milk foam and candied turnips, and an activated charcoal dessert with sunflower seed ice cream. Trust me, you are in for a treat!

The Ritz, Cape Town

The Ritz has created three unique offerings to make Cape Town lovebird’s hearts sing this Valentine’s Day.

The classic love story of Casablanca inspired CASA’s #whendidyourlovestart evening. Enjoy a four course menu, complete with a dessert chocolate fountain, and an evening of dancing. (R1100 per couple)

At Top of The Ritz, a breath-taking panoramic view is the perfect backdrop for bubbly with your love while indulging in a 7-course gourmet journey. (R1700 per couple, includes two glasses of bubbly)

For those wishing to indulge in the complete experience, book dinner at Top of The Ritz with a stay in a Deluxe Room, complete with a romantic turn-down in the evening, and breakfast and bubbly the next morning. (R4500 per couple)

Anthonij Rupert, Franschhoek

Visitors can choose between two romantic offerings during February 2018:

 Enjoy a High Tea for Two at the historic Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room, which boasts panoramic views of the estate and mountains. At R180 per person, you’ll get a beautiful selection of sweet and savoury items and a glass of L’Ormarins Brut Rosé NV.

During February they are also offering a nice deal on the L’Ormarins MCC and Nougat Pairing: two bespoke tastings for the price of one. Three of the estate’s L’Ormarins MCCs are paired with handcrafted artisanal nougat, specially created to highlight a certain characteristic found in its MCC partner. Presented in the Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room, the pairing is available at the special price of just R60 per couple during February.

Faber, Paarl

Faber restaurant at Avondale Estate in the Paarl Valley has become known for their handcrafted dishes and wine that heroes local, sustainable produce. Set on the slopes of the scenic Klein Drakenstein Mountains, family-owned Avondale Estate is renowned for its ground-breaking approach to biodynamic and organic viticulture and winemaking.

Chef Eric Bulpitt and his team have masterminded a mouth-watering six-course sharing menu for the special occasion. The menu is priced at R650 per person and includes a glass of bubbly on arrival.

Bosjes, Breedekloof

Take the scenic drive through the beautiful Breedekloof valley to Bosjes and enjoy the natural beauty of the landscaped gardens on this family owned protea and fruit farm. Bosjes Kombuis, is offering guests a nine-course meal for Valentine’s Day prepared by Chef Kim Cox. Each dish in this menu will be carefully paired with wines from the Deetlefs Wine Estate in the Breedekloof valley.

Gabriëlskloof, Botriver

Escape to Gabriëlskloof for a special three-course feast on Sunday, February 11. Enjoy a welcome of bubbly and oysters before moving on to a casual afternoon filled with lawn games and French accordion music.

The theme for lunch is also French, built around Chef Frans Groenewald’s passion for fresh farm produce. And enchanting exhibition of orchids will also be on display and for sale, courtesy of Stanford’s Eikenhof Orchids. Book early because seating is limited. Tickets cost R400 per person and the festivities start at 12.
