I am a big fan of makeup that comes in crayon form, probably because it makes me more feel like a kid colouring in, and not so much like a grown-up getting ready for a day at work. The cream consistency is also brilliant for an easy blend, without any mess and dusting.

I was recently introduced to the GOSH Forever Eyeshadow sticks (R160 each, Edgars), which instantly caught my fancy with a mix of neutral mattes and metallic pops. Of course you can’t judge a product by its pretty packaging and since these shadow sticks are so affordable, I wasn’t sure if they’d deliver on pigment. I was, therefore, thrilled when I swiped the first shade (Light Copper) across the back of my hand to find a solid, deliciously golden streak shimmering on my skin.

Cream makeup normally falls short on pigment quality and how long it lasts. These babies delivered on both points, giving beautiful, solid colour in one creamy swipe, and lasting all day. It dries down in seconds and after that it does not budge (so FYI you will need an oil-based makeup remover to get it off).

My Easy Eyes Tutorial

I created this easy eye shadow look using a combination of matte and metallic shades. A few tips on using these:

  • Blending: It was easier to blend with my fingers than a brush, but what actually worked best was to blend the colours together using the actual crayons. For instance I used the Light Copper shade to mix Brown from the outer corner into the rest of the shadow. Just work the lighter colour into the darker one until you are happy with the fade.
  • Intensify: If you want the highlighter shades (gold and silver) to really pop, wait for the shadow to dry and go over a second time.
  • Texture: I found that the product is slightly sticky so I focused the colour on my lid, below the crease. You can easily tone down the sticky feel by dusting translucent powder over the final look once the shadow has dried completely.
  • Removal: They are definitely waterproof so make sure you have an oil-based makeup remover to get it off. You can also use coconut oil.

Here’s what I used:

From left: GOSH Forever Eyeshadow in Nougat, Dark Brown, Beige, Brown and Light Copper.

The range consists of matte and metallic shades

The GOSH Forever Eye Shadow range consists of matte and metallic shades that all have a super smooth texture giving you gorgeous, even colour. I would use a combination of Nougat and Dark Brown for every day makeup if I’m feeling lazy, and the Dark Grey is brilliant if you like a smoky eye.

As for the metallics, I am a huge fan of shimmering brown, golden and copper shades, but I think the emerald Green shade is just as fabulous for a striking evening eye look.

They promise 8 hours of wear with these shadow sticks and I can attest to that. I created this look at 8am in the morning and by 11pm that evening it was still pretty perfect.

Oh my GOSH, I would Gaga if I won this as my beautiful makeup artist friend raves about this range! I have tried the primer and it’s phenomenal! Affordable but so high end! Now back to these sultry eye shadows, my brown eyes would love to be seduced by the Light Copper. Ooh la la! This could be used as a highlighter? So please pretty please send this awesome hamper my way? I would be screaming Oh My Gosh!

  3. Definitely Brown and Light Copper. I absolutely love your eye look, I will definitely try to replicate it.

  4. The all look lovely and wearable but I especially like the look of the Brown shade.

  5. I could definitely see myself using the light copper and dark brown quite a bit! The metallic copper also looks amazing. Fingers crossed!!

  6. I am a very big fan of make-up crayons, probably because I love stationery so much! No better feeling in the world to feel like a kid in an adult world 🙂 For dark brown eyes that light copper stands out, day or night! I wear glasses so I need to get my make-up to stand out but I am no make-up artist so these crayons work their magic … And of course anything with a good price tag makes me cheerful!

I’ve never used GOSH before so this was interesting! I love the fact that their products aren’t tested on animals and they even have some vegan items and that they are affordable!?.The eye shadow sticks look totally fantastic especially in the brown shade, making makeup application more fun and less of a mission???

I have been looking for a natural, but glam type of eye shadow and I think the light copper Forever Eyeshadow shade is just the one! I watched your video and it seems so easy to apply by just using the pencil…no fussing around with powder eye shadow that drops in the sink and crumbles! Would so love to have an eyeshadow that stays for FOREVER. Will look beautiful with a bright lip or one of the nude lippies you suggested. Will share!

  14. Light Copper is a beautiful colour. I have been looking for a lighter copper colour for quite some time now.

  15. They all would make a great combo, but I enjoy a smokey eye, so the dark brown would defos be my fav ? Love your blog posts btw xxx keep it up

  16. All the different shades of colours are amazing but the metallic copper just stands out for me. Anyone can wear it and if you love a bit of drama on your eyes it just perfects everything. ☺
