Spend the day in Blouberg

With the most spectacular view of Table Mountain, golden beaches and noteworthy restaurants, spending the day at Bloubergstrand is always a good idea. Within a 30 minute drive from the CBD and less than an hour from most of the surrounding towns, Blouberg is easily accessible and this breezy coastal town has plenty of activities for all ages – just in time for the school holidays.

I’ve rounded up some of the best things to do in Blouberg, so why not take a look and spend the day if you’re in the area:

Breakfast with a view at Petit Fours

The only thing better than a good breakfast, is eating breakfast on the seafront with a view of Table Mountain. This French inspired bistro with a South African flair makes a mean Eggs Benedict. Pair that with a good cup of coffee and you won’t have a better start to your day. You’d want to arrive early to be able to get a seat with a view outside, but the cosy interior might be your saving grace when the wind becomes unbearable.

Petit Fours is open daily from 08:00 – 17:00.

Learn to kitesurf

There’s no need to be sour when you learn that Blouberg is known for its gushing winds. It might not exactly be picnic weather, but it’s the perfect excuse to strap yourself to a kite and test your stamina. There are plenty of local instructors and surfing schools in the area to help you if it’s your first time, so there’s really no excuse.

Blouberg is one of the most popular kitesurfing spots in the world, so check the weather and grab your gear for a thrilling experience.

Grab lunch at Ons Huisie

It’s no secret that Blouberg has some of the best restaurants with a view in Cape Town, and Ons Huisie is no different. They offer a selection of fresh seafood, proudly South African dishes and a splendid view of the bay. Even something as simple as fish and chips by the sea is an extraordinary experience. They are known as a child and even dog-friendly restaurant, making it a popular place for family get-togethers.

Ons Huisie is open daily from 09:00 – 10:00.

Get some FrozenYO

After a good lunch you definitely want to treat yourself with something sweet from Cape Town’s first frozen yoghurt food truck. You can find the FrozenYO truck at the Blouberg beachfront, making both locals and tourists happy since 2014.

They sell only the finest gluten-free frozen yoghurt that’s low in calories and dairy products. Obviously that means it’s healthy, right?

Drink sundowners at Doodles Beachfront

The end to a perfect day will take place at Doodle Beachfront, with a laid-back drink or two. With spectacular views of Table Mountain and a cocktail to pair it with, you can relax while sending another day off into the sunset. Once the night draws in, the vibe picks up and you’re in for a good evening. While you’re there, get something to nibble on from their menu.

Doodles Beachfront is open daily from 09:00-23:00
