Winter floral fragrances that have stolen my heart | 9Lives
Reading Time: 3 min

As winter approaches I find myself reaching for heartwarming florals and indulgent spice-driven fragrances. I adore wrapping myself in rose and white floral perfumes on these crisp winter afternoons, inhaling the notes as I pull my scarf slightly tighter against a cool breeze.

A perfume is a deeply personal choice and I believe you should find one that envelopes your heart with that first scent; where you close your eyes to savour the complex layers and intricacies. There are certain notes that always tap right into my soul. Pure rose, indulgent white florals, bright pink pepper, vibrant citrus, and sweet woody base notes.

I have put together three new floral scents that have stolen my heart over the last few weeks, and that I’ll be wearing this season. Do yourself a favour and try them out.

Bulgari Splendida Rose Rose Eau de Parfum

From R1500, select department stores

Bvlgari Splendida Rose Rose Liezel Malherbe 9Lives
Bvlgari Splendida Rose Rose

I fell in love with this fragrance right from the start. The new Splendida collection from Bulgari celebrates the three most iconic flower s in the history of perfumery and contains three variants: the soft Iris D’Or, the sultry Jasmine Noir and then Rose Rose, a seductive and romantic scent that celebrates the queen of flowers.

Rose is truly at the heart of the fragrance and you’ll pick up the fresh, velvety notes immediately. You’ll also smell warm mandarin and mouthwatering mulberry on the top notes, and it finally dries down to sweet woody notes of patchouli, sandalwood and musk.

I think it is a beautiful, simplistic and elegant perfume.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Fleur Musc Eau de Parfum

LIMITED EDITION – From R950, select department stores

Narciso Rodriguez Fleur Musc Liezel Malherbe 9Lives
Narciso Rodriguez Fleur Musc

Narciso Rodriguez is known for creating iconic scents. For Her is still one of my all time favourites after all these years, and I always look forward to new variants, knowing it will be unique. Rodriguez explains that “Fleur musc was born from my desire to create a fragrance with the heart of musc surrounded by warm rich pink flowers.” This is exactly what you’re going to get with the scent.

I love the warm, soft and sensual character of the fragrance. You’ll pick up pink pepper in the top notes, which soon opens to rose, musk and peony at the heart, and finally it dries down to amber, patchouli and violet. The overall result is a vibrant and addictive.

If you enjoy soft, warm floral scents then you should definitely give this one a try.

YSL Black Opium Floral Shock Eau de Parfum

From R1630, select department stores

Winter Floral Fragrances Liezel Malherbe 9Lives 2

I am a huge fan of the YSL Black Opium collection. The original instantly captured my attention as a bold, daring and incredibly sexy scent, and it always makes me feel like I can own the night. Floral Shock retains that sensual power but has a lighter, fresher character, so that you can easily wear it in the day as well.

Black Opium Floral Shock is an instant pleasure. It opens like a shot of espresso with coffee in the top notes, followed by freesia, soft-green bergamot, and delicate pear. At the heart of the fragrance you’ll pick up a bouquet of white floral notes, and finally it dries down to warm citrus and woods.

Try it if you love white floral fragrances with a dark side. I adore it!

I am a lifestyle blogger from Cape Town trying to find the best ways to spend my time, take care of my body and express myself. I am slightly obsessed with fragrances, sneakers, Jamie Oliver and Masterchef Australia. Oh, and I probably drink way too much wine.
